Short answer

The Bali visa on arrival costs an official IDR 500,000 (about AUD 40) for 30 days, extendable once; a rise to IDR 750,000 online and IDR 1 million at the airport was announced on 12 August 2026, with no start date. Buy it online as an e-VOA (electronic visa on arrival) on evisa.imigrasi.go.id or indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id; type the address yourself, never from an ad or a search result.[2, 4]

In detail

How much is the Bali visa on arrival?

The visa on arrival costs IDR 500,000 (about AUD 40) per person for 30 days. The visa fee is the same online as an e-VOA or at the airport, where the counter takes cash or card; Australia's travel advice says the e-VOA also adds a small online processing fee. These are immigration's official fees, paid direct; a visa agent charges its own fee on top.[1, 2, 3, 14]

A rise is announced but not started; the fee rise below has where it stands. The fee sits with every other official charge in the fees and fines table.

Who can get a visa on arrival for Bali?

Most visitors can: the official list on imigrasi.go.id names 97 countries and territories, among them Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, India and New Zealand. Some on that list, such as Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, need no visa at all for a short stay; see visa-free entry.[7, 8]

It covers a holiday, visiting family, meetings, conferences and exhibitions, and transit. It does not let you sell goods or services, or take pay from anyone in Indonesia. Stateless travellers, and those on a refugee travel document or a laissez-passer, cannot use it.[2]

Our rule

If you plan to work or stay past 60 days, choose another visa before you fly.

Which visa fits walks through the options, and an immigration office can tell you about a bridging visa once you are here.

Is the visa on arrival fee going up?

A rise has been announced, not started. In August 2026 Indonesia's Director General of Immigration announced an e-VOA price of IDR 750,000 (about AUD 60) when bought before you travel, and IDR 1 million (about AUD 80) for a visa arranged on arrival. No start date was given.[4, 5, 6]

The reasons given were the swings in the rupiah's exchange rate, which leave today's fee low, and shorter queues at the airport. On 18 October 2026 the official visa page still listed IDR 500,000, so that is the fee to plan on; sources differ, see Conflicts.[2, 4]

Should you get the e-VOA online or at the airport?

Get the e-VOA online. It costs the same today and arrives within 24 hours; under the announced rise, the airport visa would cost IDR 250,000 more. Check the fee on immigration's visa page before you pay.[2, 4]

There are three ways to get the same visa, and an e-VOA works at Ngurah Rai airport (I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport) and at the Benoa, Celukan Bawang and Padang Bai seaports. The table shows how each route is paid and what you receive.[2, 3, 9]

Our rule

Apply online at least a week before you leave.

An e-VOA approved only after you land is not valid, and you risk an overstay fine.[3]

What is the official e-VOA website?

The official e-VOA sites are the two addresses on immigration's own visa page, shown in the table below. A site selling the visa anywhere else is not on that list.[2]

Type the address yourself rather than tapping a search result. A look-alike site can rank above the real one and take payment just like it. In December 2022 immigration named one copy, indonesia-evoa.com, that sat at the top of Google results. A fake agent can take your money and send no visa, or the wrong one.[3, 10]

The levy and the arrival card have their own official sites, all three listed in the official sites guide.

Our rule

If you reached a visa page from a search result or an ad, close it and start again at an address you type.

A payment page that works proves nothing, since copies take payment too.

How do you apply for the e-VOA?

You apply on one of the two official addresses, upload three files and pay by card. The e-VOA arrives within 24 hours.[2]

  1. Open an official address

Type evisa.imigrasi.go.id or indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id into the address bar and choose the visa on arrival. Do it at least a week ahead.[2, 3]

  2. Upload your passport, photo and ticket

You upload your passport's photo page, a colour photo taken in the last year and your return or onward ticket. The ticket must take you out of Indonesia, home or to another country.[2]

  3. Pay by card

The online fee is paid by debit or credit card, at IDR 500,000 (about AUD 40) today; check the fee on immigration's visa page before you pay, and pay only on one of the two addresses on immigration's visa page, typed yourself.[2]

  4. Save the e-VOA

The e-VOA is sent to your e-visa account and your email within 24 hours, so check both. You must enter Indonesia within 90 days of its issue, or apply again.[2]

What do you need for a visa on arrival?

You need a passport valid for at least six months from the day you arrive, with two blank pages, and proof that you are leaving. A temporary or emergency passport is accepted, but it must be valid for 12 months.[2, 3]

  • Passport valid six months past your arrival date, with two blank pages.
  • A return or onward ticket out of Indonesia.
  • A colour photo taken in the last year, for the e-VOA.
  • A debit or credit card, or cash for the airport counter.

The visa on arrival's document list includes no bank statement. The C1 visit visa does ask for one, showing at least USD 2,000; see proof of funds.[2, 11]

How long can you stay on a visa on arrival?

You can stay 30 days, counted from the day you arrive, and extend once for 30 more, so 60 days in all. It is single entry: leave Indonesia and the visa ends.[2]

To extend, you register online and then visit the immigration office for a photo and a short interview; a visa bought at the airport counter claims its stay permit online first; extending a visa on arrival has the steps. Staying past your last day costs IDR 1 million (about AUD 80) a day for up to 60 days, as set out under the overstay fine.[2, 3, 12, 13]

Our rule

Put your last legal day in your phone's calendar the day you land.

The 30 days are counted from the day you arrive, and the fine is charged for each day past them.[2]

FAQ

Is the e-VOA the same visa as the visa on arrival?

Yes. Both give the same 30-day stay, for the same fee today; the e-VOA is simply bought online before you land.[2]

Can you switch to a longer visa without leaving?

Not directly: immigration's visa on arrival page names a bridging visa (a permit that carries you from one stay permit to the next) to move to another stay permit; ask immigration while your stay is still valid.[2]

Is the visa on arrival fee the same outside Bali?

Yes. Immigration lists one fee for this visa, IDR 500,000 (about AUD 40) for 30 days, with no regional rate. Bali's tourist levy is a separate charge on top.[2, 3]

What does the visa on arrival cost?

Our reading

Pay IDR 500,000: the rise to IDR 750,000 online and IDR 1 million at the airport is announced, not in force.

Immigration's own visa page, read on 18 October 2026, still lists IDR 500,000 under PP 45/2024, whose immigration fees PP 30/2026 left in place (VO7); neither report names a start date or a legal instrument, and the RRI headline's "implements" is the only wording that calls it in force.
