Short answer

A Bali holiday of up to 30 days needs the visa on arrival, an official IDR 500,000 (about USD 28), unless you hold one of 19 mostly Southeast Asian passports that need none. Up to six months takes the C1 visit visa and a year of remote work the E33G, both applied for on evisa.imigrasi.go.id.[5]

Visa on arrival, official fee
IDR 500,000, 30 days
C1 visit visa, official fee
IDR 1 million, 60 days
E33G remote work, official fee

Start where your plans sit:

What Bali visa types are there?

You enter Bali on one of Indonesia's visas, chosen by why you come and how long you stay. The short ones are for visits, and none of them lets you sell anything or take pay from anyone in Indonesia; the long ones lead to a KITAS (limited stay permit), which on the E33G is issued as you are admitted.[1, 5, 12]

The table matches the commonest plans to a visa, with the official fee.[2, 5, 8, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18]

Do you need a visa for Bali?

Not if you hold a passport from Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Myanmar, Laos, Timor-Leste, Suriname, Colombia, Hong Kong, Turkey, Brazil, Peru, Kazakhstan, Macau or Belarus. You get 30 days free at the entry points immigration sets, which cannot be extended or switched to another permit; confirm that Bali's airport is one before you fly.[2, 3]

Everyone else needs a visa. Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada are among the 97 countries and territories on the visa on arrival list; a passport on neither list applies for a visit visa such as the C1 before flying, and some nationalities need a sponsor for it.[4, 8]

Which visa do you need for a Bali holiday?

For a holiday of up to 30 days, take the visa on arrival: IDR 500,000 (about USD 28), one entry, extendable once for 30 more days. You can buy it online as an e-VOA or pay at a bank counter at the airport. These are immigration's official fees, paid direct; a visa agent charges its own fee on top.[5, 6, 22]

The e-VOA is the same visa, bought ahead. It arrives by email within 24 hours, must be used within 90 days of issue, and is sold on evisa.imigrasi.go.id and on the second official address, indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id. You need a passport valid for six months and a return or onward ticket.[5]

The fee is IDR 500,000 (about USD 28) today. A rise to IDR 750,000 (about USD 42) online and IDR 1 million (about USD 56) at the airport was announced on 12 August 2026, with no start date; see Conflicts.[5, 7]

Our rule

Buy the e-VOA online before you fly, and check the fee on the official site the day you pay.

If the rise starts, online is the cheaper route.

Which visa lets you stay in Bali for more than 60 days?

The C1 visit visa: 60 days from entry, extendable twice, to 180 days in all, for IDR 1 million (about USD 56). You apply before you travel and show a bank statement with at least USD 2,000 over the last three months.[8]

Each extension costs another IDR 1 million (about USD 56) and runs 60 days; you register online, then visit an immigration office. The visa must be used within 90 days of issue.[8, 9]

If you are searching for the B211A, that was the 2022 code for a 60-day visit visa covering tourism, social and business visits. Today's single-entry visit visas are the C1, for tourism, and the C2, for business.[1, 10]

For repeat trips, the D1 multiple-entry visa allows 60 days on each visit, for IDR 3 million (about USD 167) for one year, up to IDR 10 million (about USD 557) for five. It needs a letter from a government body or company explaining its link to you, or from an Indonesian spouse or parent.[11]

Our rule

Apply for the C1 before you fly.

It is applied for online or at an Indonesian embassy, and an application takes five working days.[8]

Can you work remotely in Bali on a tourist visa?

No: none of the activities a visit visa allows is remote work. Visit visas cover holidays, family visits, meetings and events, and forbid selling goods or services or taking pay from anyone in Indonesia.[5, 8]

Influencer work and commercial online content may need a different visa too. Using the wrong visa can lead to prosecution, detention and deportation at your own cost.[6]

The visa built for remote work is the E33G remote worker visa: one year, for IDR 7 million (about USD 390). It needs income of at least USD 60,000 a year. It also needs an employment contract with a company set up outside Indonesia.[12]

Our rule

Without an E33G, keep remote work for after you leave Indonesia.

Its rules, documents and tax position are on the remote worker visa page. The official page names an employment contract with a company set up outside Indonesia and USD 60,000 a year in income; if you are self-employed or paid by your own company, ask immigration before you apply.

Which visa do you need to retire or live in Bali long term?

Aged 55 or over, the E33E retirement visa gives a stay of up to five years, extendable to ten, for a USD 50,000 deposit and USD 3,000 a month in income or allowance, for IDR 13 million (about USD 724).[14]

Both five-year visas ask you to prove the money within 90 days of arrival and keep it there for the whole stay. Neither needs a sponsor, and both allow work or study once you report it to the immigration office. The second home visa sets no age limit, but ties up far more.[13, 14]

Long-stay visas compared, official fees, 18 October 2026
VisaMoney you must showStayOfficial fee
E33E retirementUSD 3,000 a month, plus USD 50,000 depositedUp to 5 yearsIDR 13,000,000

E33 second homeUSD 130,000 deposited, or a USD 1,000,000 apartmentUp to 5 yearsIDR 13,000,000

If you want one year at a time, the E33F asks for the same income and a sponsor, and its page lists no deposit.[15]

Our rule

Aged 55 or over with USD 3,000 a month, take the E33E: it ties up USD 80,000 less than the second home visa.

The stay and the fee are the same.

Which visa lets you join family in Bali?

A family visa: the E31A if your spouse is Indonesian, the E31B if your spouse holds a KITAS or KITAP (permanent stay permit). Each gives one or two years, extendable online, and both need a sponsor. The listed fee is from IDR 6 million (about USD 334) for one year and IDR 8.5 million (about USD 474) for two, but the E31A page's own breakdown for a year adds to IDR 8.5 million, so confirm the fee when you apply.[16, 17]

Which visa do you need to work for an Indonesian company?

The E23 work visa, applied for by your employer as sponsor, with a work permit from Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower. It costs IDR 5.25 million (about USD 293) for 180 days, IDR 7 million (about USD 390) for a year or IDR 9.5 million (about USD 529) for two.[18]

If you are putting money into your own Indonesian company, the E28A investor visa needs shares worth at least IDR 10 billion (about USD 557,000). It lets you sit as a director or commissioner, at the same fees for one or two years.[19]

Our rule

Do not start work until your work visa is issued.

Visit visas forbid pay from anyone in Indonesia, so a job offer is not a permit.

What do you need before you apply?

Most visas you get ahead of the trip are applied for online, through an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id, and most ask for the same core set. The C1 visit visa can also be applied for at an Indonesian embassy.[5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18]

  • A passport valid for at least six months.
  • A colour photo taken in the last year, for every visa in the first table except visa-free entry and the visa on arrival bought at the airport.
  • A return or onward ticket, for visa-free entry and the visa on arrival.
  • A bank statement for the last three months showing at least USD 2,000, for the C1, D1 and every long-stay visa in the first table.
  • An account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id: yours, or your sponsor's where the visa needs one.
  • Your sponsor's letter, where the visa needs one.

What happens if you overstay your visa?

You pay IDR 1 million (about USD 56) for every day past your permit, for up to 60 days; past 60 days you are detained and deported instead. Extend before the first permit runs out; the visa extension and overstay fine pages cover both in detail.[6, 20]

How do you avoid fake Bali visa websites?

The risk is a look-alike site or fake visa agent that copies the government's pages and sometimes takes payment for a visa that never arrives or fails at the border, so you pay again. Immigration names two addresses for the e-VOA, evisa.imigrasi.go.id and indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, and the longer visas go through an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id.[5, 6, 12, 21]

Our rule

Type evisa.imigrasi.go.id, or indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id for an e-VOA, yourself before you enter a card number.

A visa from a copy does not get you through the border.

FAQ

Can you switch visas without leaving Indonesia?

Sometimes. A visa on arrival cannot be switched directly: immigration's visa on arrival page names a bridging visa to move to another stay permit, so ask immigration while your stay is still valid. A C1 can move into a limited stay permit, and visa-free entry cannot be switched.[2, 5, 8]

How long does a Bali visa take to arrive?

An e-VOA arrives within 24 hours. A C1 or an E33G takes five working days after payment.[5, 8, 12]

What does the visa on arrival cost?

Our reading

Pay IDR 500,000: the rise to IDR 750,000 online and IDR 1 million at the airport is announced, not in force.

Immigration's own visa page, read on 18 October 2026, still lists IDR 500,000 under PP 45/2024, whose immigration fees PP 30/2026 left in place (VO7); neither report names a start date or a legal instrument, and the RRI headline's "implements" is the only wording that calls it in force.
