How we check facts and sources
How the pages on balianswered are built from sources, how they are dated, and what happens when sources disagree.
Sources
Every page is built from published sources. A rule, fee or deadline comes from the authority that sets it: a government office, a regulation or an official site. A price comes from the business that charges it, as that business publishes it.
Where neither publishes the answer, we use news reports, guides and other research, cited in the same way: each fact carries a numbered tag that links to its entry in the page's Sources list. Where we work a figure out ourselves, the page says 'our estimate' and shows the working.
A few pages add what we have found living in Bali ourselves: rents, fares and how things work day to day. Each such line is cited to our own first-hand source, dated the day we confirmed it.
Sources are numbered at the foot of each page, with the date each was published and the date we read it. Each page shows the date it was last updated. Rules and prices in Bali change often, so check the dates before you rely on a figure.
Research
AI tools research each question: they find the sources and gather the facts from them. Every figure on a page is then checked against the source it came from. Anything without a source is left out, and anything we work out ourselves is marked 'our estimate'.
Conflicts
Where sources disagree on what you should do, the page makes one call and shows each claim with its source and date in a Conflicts section, with our reading and the reason for it.
Review
No page on visas, the law or property has been reviewed by an Indonesian lawyer or notary. Nothing on the guide is legal advice.
No health page has been reviewed by a doctor. Nothing on the guide is medical advice: see a doctor or other clinician before any decision about your health.
