Short answer

Arriving in Bali costs IDR 650,000 (about AUD 52) a person in official fees on a visa on arrival, or IDR 150,000 on a visa-free passport. A visa fee rise was announced on 12 August 2026, with no start date. The car from the airport comes on top, from about IDR 130,000 to Kuta.[3]

In detail

How much does it cost to arrive in Bali?

Two people on a visa on arrival, heading to Canggu, pay about IDR 1.65 million (about AUD 132) to IDR 1.86 million to arrive, by our estimate. That is IDR 1.3 million in fees and IDR 350,000 to 560,000 for the car on two sellers' lists; a pre-booked car or Grab can come in nearer IDR 200,000 to 300,000.[3, 7, 8, 9]

The fees are set per person. The car is paid per car, and its price depends on who you book it with.

Our rule

Book the car before you land.

Then the only sum left open on arrival day is one you agreed in advance.

Which fees do you pay per person?

Every foreign tourist pays the tourist levy, IDR 150,000 once per trip, children included; KITAS and KITAP holders are exempt. You also pay the visa on arrival fee, IDR 500,000 for 30 days, if your passport is on the visa on arrival list. The arrival card is free.[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Which list your passport is on is in the visa-free entry guide; if you are coming on another visa, start with which visa fits your trip.

What does the car from the airport cost?

A car from Bali airport costs from about IDR 130,000 to Kuta, and IDR 350,000 to 560,000 to Canggu on sellers' lists, against about IDR 200,000 to 300,000 pre-booked by car or Grab. The fares by area and by seller are in the airport fare table.[7, 8, 9]

The calculator adds a second car when your group outgrows the first: the cheaper list's car takes four people, the dearer list's three.[7, 8]

Our rule

Book a car ahead, use the official taxi counter or an app lounge, and ignore offers in the hall.

If you still take a street car, agree the fare and destination before you get in.

What moves your number?

Three things move it: your passport, since a visa-free passport saves IDR 500,000 a person; the size of your group, since every fee is per person; and the area, since a car to Canggu or Ubud costs more than twice one to Kuta on the lower list.[3, 7]

The visa on arrival is IDR 500,000 today. A rise to IDR 750,000 online and IDR 1 million at the airport was announced on 12 August 2026 with no start date. If it starts, each traveller pays IDR 250,000 more for an e-VOA (electronic visa on arrival) bought before the flight, or IDR 500,000 more at the airport. The e-VOA also carries a small online processing fee. Sources differ; see Conflicts.[3, 11, 12, 18]

Our rule

Check the fee on immigration's visa page the week you fly, and buy the e-VOA before you go.

If the rise starts, buying ahead is the cheaper of the two.

Where do you pay each fee?

Pay the levy on lovebali.baliprov.go.id or the Love Bali app, at the airport and port counters, or through a hotel, agent or attraction registered with Love Bali, by card, transfer or QRIS, never cash. Pay the e-VOA on evisa.imigrasi.go.id or indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, or buy the visa at the airport's bank counter. File the free arrival card on allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id.[1, 3, 14, 15]

Type lovebali.baliprov.go.id yourself. Look-alike sites can charge more than the levy; some can send a voucher that fails a check, others can pass the real levy on and keep the difference. How to spot one is in the official sites guide.[16, 17]

Our rule

Check the total before you pay: the levy is IDR 150,000 a person.

Our reading

Pay IDR 500,000: the rise to IDR 750,000 online and IDR 1 million at the airport is announced, not in force.

Immigration's own visa page, read on 18 October 2026, still lists IDR 500,000 under PP 45/2024, whose immigration fees PP 30/2026 left in place (VO7); neither report names a start date or a legal instrument, and the RRI headline's "implements" is the only wording that calls it in force.
