What are the best beaches in Canggu and what do they cost?

Batu Bolong, Echo Beach and Pererenan charge no entry fee, only scooter parking of IDR 2,000 to 5,000.[2]

Five surfable beaches are within 10 minutes by scooter: Batu Bolong, Echo Beach, Pererenan, Berawa and Nelayan.[4]

The whole coast is black volcanic sand. The waves can be strong and the currents unpredictable. None of the beaches is naturally calm, so swim with care.[3]

Batu Bolong is a walkable cafe hub and best for beginner surfers. Echo Beach suits experienced surfers and has upscale bars.[5]

Berawa has intermediate waves with gentler parts for beginners.[6]

Pererenan is a river-mouth break for intermediate to advanced surfers, around 10 minutes from Echo Beach by car.[7, 8]

A beginner lesson at Dian Surf School costs IDR 400,000 a person. Equipment and coaching are included, for two hours at most.[9]

With scooter parking, a beach day with a lesson is about IDR 402,000 to 405,000 (our estimate). Parking is per scooter, the lesson per person.[2, 9]

Grab and Gojek pickups at Echo Beach and Batu Bolong are sometimes refused or cancelled by local drivers, so walk 100 to 200 metres inland or out to the main road before you order.[10, 35, 36, 37]

Parking near Batu Bolong, Berawa and the beach clubs is often tight, and it fills up quickly around sunset.[11, 38]

Our rule

Walk inland before you order a ride home from the beach.

The pickup point matters more than the app, and parking is easier before the sunset crowd.

What do Canggu beach clubs cost and when are they open?

FINNS Beach Club has free entry, is for adults only and is open daily from 11:00 WITA until midnight. Its free-entry party zones need no booking amount.[12]

The club runs a 2-for-1 happy hour daily from 20:00 to 21:00 WITA in every area.[13]

Beds at the Garden Party start at IDR 1 million for 4 people and IDR 1.5 million for 6, which is IDR 250,000 a person at the starting prices (our estimate). The bed page offers up to 50 percent off a bed if you arrive before 13:00 WITA. Confirm any minimum spend, service charge or tax when you book.[14]

Where should you eat out in Canggu and what does it cost?

Eat at a warung for the cheapest meal and at a mid-range restaurant for most dinners. A warung (small local eatery) meal is about IDR 27,000 to 54,000.[16]

A nice mid-range restaurant in Canggu is about IDR 150,000 to 200,000 (about AUD 12) a person. At the top end, an upmarket Western steakhouse such as Aged & Butchered is about IDR 2 million (about AUD 160) for two, with two steaks and sides and no alcohol.[1]

A flat white at a Canggu third-wave cafe is IDR 35,000 to 45,000.[17]

Menus marked "++" add service charge and tax, about a fifth on top (15 to 20 percent), so a menu price of IDR 200,000 comes to about IDR 240,000 at the bill.[18]

What do spas in Canggu cost?

Ameline Beauty & Spa lists a 60-minute Balinese massage at IDR 348,000 and deep tissue at IDR 368,000, which is IDR 20,000 or about 6 percent more. Confirm which branch the prices belong to.[19]

Svaha Spa in Batu Bolong is open daily from 09:00 to 20:00 WITA; ask the spa for its 60-minute price.[20]

What does a day pass at Nirvana Life Bali cost?

Nirvana Life Bali is a gym on Jalan Pantai Berawa, in the Berawa part of Canggu.[23]

The Club Pass at Nirvana Life Bali is from IDR 725,000 a day or IDR 2,420,000 a week, and a one-time class is IDR 170,000. Each price is marked "++", which the page prints as 10 percent tax and 5 percent service charge on top. The club is open daily from 06:00 to 23:00 WITA.[21, 22]

With the 15 percent added, a day pass is about IDR 834,000 and a week about IDR 2.78 million. The week works out to about IDR 346,000 a day before the 15 percent, under half the day price (our estimate).[21]

Our rule

Buy the week pass if you will train four or more days.

Three day passes cost less than the week and four cost more, so the week is cheaper from day four (our estimate, before the 15 percent).

What does a yoga class in Canggu cost?

A single drop-in class at Samadi Bali in Canggu is IDR 155,000. A 6-class pass is IDR 775,000, and KITAS holders pay IDR 135,000 a class.[26]

For a family of four, two Discovery Passes come to IDR 590,000 (our estimate), against IDR 720,000 for the five-person pass if its price is fixed for five.[24]

FINNS Beach Club is adults only. The FINNS Recreation Club, which includes a kids club, is not yet open: its first stage is due to open in May 2027.[12, 25]

What can you do in Canggu on a rainy day?

Cafes, spas and indoor options fill a wet day.[30]

A flat white is IDR 35,000 to 45,000, a 60-minute Balinese massage IDR 348,000, and a yoga class IDR 155,000; the sections above have the details.[17, 19, 26]

The wet season runs November to March. At the Denpasar weather station, January has 20 rain days and February 18, against 1 in August and September.[31]

In heavy rain, check the road and allow extra time before you leave, because streets in Canggu can flood in torrential rain. In September 2025 a Berawa lane reached about 1 metre.[32, 39]

What is there to do in Canggu at night?

Canggu's evening is bars, beach clubs and restaurants; FINNS Beach Club is open until midnight, with its happy hour from 20:00 to 21:00 WITA.[12, 13]

After residents complained about music in 2022, Canggu venues agreed outdoor music of at most 70 decibels and closing by 01:00 WITA. That was an agreement, not a law.[33]

For the ride home, the same rule as the beaches applies: pickups on the beachfront are sometimes refused, so walk to the main road before you order.[10]
